In Lancaster County, roughly 29 percent of the population falls below the poverty line! This means that almost 1 in every 3 people in Lancaster county is impoverished and may be deprived of access to proper food and nutrition. With such a high number Clean Works decided in 2016 that we would begin conducting a food drive to help combat this problem.

This year Clean Works Services, Inc. is intending to double the amount of businesses we had participating last year. So far we have Advanced Signs & Graphics, Figure Firm Total Fitness for Women, Loeffler Financial Group, Signarama, Send Out Cards, and Independent Marketing Services that have pledged to participate this year. We want to make sure that we are targeting food banks in every region of Lancaster County to ensure that we are helping as many communities as possible. That’s why we have decided to donate food not only to The Columbia Food Bank and Lancaster County Council of Churches but will be donating to New Holland Area Food Bank, Mount Joy Community Food Bank, Conestoga Community Food Bank, and the Northeastern Lancaster County Food Bank as well.

The concept of the food drive is fairly simple. Clean Works will put a collection bin your workplace and instruct your employees of when and how to donate. Clean Works will do weekly promotions of every business who is participating through social media and e-mail marketing campaigns. At the end of collection period, Clean Works will gather all collection bins and deliver the collected goods to the food bank. The company who collects the most cans will be awarded the “Clean Works Community Supporter of the Year” and will receive a free lunch for the whole office to celebrate!
