Spring Cleaning To Do List

Spring is upon us, which means it’s time to freshen up our homes with spring cleaning.

Overall plan of attack is to do it top-to-bottom, left-to-right, meaning: start upstairs, and start at the highest point in the room, then move from left to right across each area.  This way, you won’t miss anything, and you won’t accidentally throw dust onto already-cleaned lower shelves or floors.

Start with dusting each room, starting from the topsides of the furniture.  Dusting up on the very top of furniture is important as all the dust collects there and then falls off.  Then move onto picture frames, TV screens, knickknacks, and undersides of shelves.  To get rid of fingerprints, clean with a warm damp microfiber cloth.

To clean mirrors and glass, wipe with one wet and one dry microfiber cloth – it won’t leave streaks.

Clean all the surfaces by wiping down all surfaces and counters throughout the house, disinfecting as necessary, making sure not to miss any places that fingers touch and can hold germs, such as door handles, light switches, TV remotes and phones.

To clean the kitchen and all bathrooms, walk through and spray cleaner on tubs, sinks and toilets, let it work, then return and scrub.  Wipe down the cabinets, and appliance doors and inside of the microwave.

Sweep, then mop or scrub the bathroom and kitchen floors, and any other floor as needed.

Finally, vacuum the house starting with upstairs bedrooms, down the stairs, through the living room and any other carpeted areas.
